PROLOGUE: THE LIFE RAHUL LOVED

Rahul’s life had become everything he ever prayed for.
He and Madhuri, the girl he loved since the first day in college, were now married and living happily in Santi Villa, Nagpur, with their playful little daughter Santi.

Every morning, Rahul dropped Santi at school, kissed her forehead, and drove back home smiling.

He had no idea that one ordinary day, the laws of reality would tear open—and he would fall into worlds where he was never the Rahul he believed himself to be.

CHAPTER 1: THE SHIFT

One morning, after dropping Santi at school, Rahul was driving back—same road, same trees, same music.

But suddenly—

The world flickered.
The colour of the sky changed.
The car dashboard changed model.
The road disappeared behind him.
The engine hummed differently.

Rahul pressed the brakes.

He looked around.

This wasn’t Nagpur.

This was…

Balramgarh.
His parents’ hometown.
Hundreds of kilometres away.

“How… how did I come here? Did I faint? Did I teleport?”

He stepped outside.

The shops were different, the air smelled different, even the sunlight looked softer—like an old memory had come alive.

CHAPTER 2: THE MISSING LIFE

He quickly pulled out his phone.

The model wasn’t his.
It was an older keypad phone.
His wallpaper was different.

And worst of all—

Madhuri’s number didn’t exist.
Santi’s name wasn’t saved.

His heart raced.
“What is happening to me?”

He decided to go to his parents’ home.

When he reached the house—he froze.

Kids were playing in the yard.
An older woman was drying clothes.
His parents were laughing with someone inside.

“Rahul! Where were you?”
A familiar voice called.

He turned.

It was his school friend—Ankita.
And she smiled at him… like a wife smiles at her husband.

Two boys ran to him shouting, “Papa!”

Rahul felt the ground slip under his feet.

“I—I’m not… your husband. I’m married to Madhuri. I live in Nagpur. I have a daughter.”

The family stared at him.

In this world, Rahul had:

  • Never gone to Pune

  • Never met Madhuri

  • Studied in Balramgarh college

  • Married his childhood friend

  • Two sons

  • Lived in a joint family

Everyone whispered:

“He has gone mad.”
“Something is wrong with him.”
“Maybe he needs a doctor.”

Rahul locked himself in a room and cried silently.

“I need to go back… I need my wife… my daughter…”

He tried the same road again and again. Nothing.

Days passed. Weeks.

He realised…

He might be stuck forever.

CHAPTER 3: THE SECOND WORLD

One afternoon while walking on the same road where he had first appeared, he saw—

A faint WHITE LIGHT flickering behind the trees.

He ran towards it.

The light grew.
The air around him bent.
His body felt weightless.

Suddenly—
WHOOSH!

He fell on solid ground again.

But he wasn’t in Balramgarh.

He was in Ahmedabad, a city he had never visited in any world.

His phone vibrated.

The wallpaper showed him… with a woman he recognised instantly—

Nikita.
The nurse he once spoke with every night.

He dialed the number saved as “WIFE ❤️.”

“Hello Rahul,” Nikita answered.
“You left without telling me. Please come home.”

Rahul froze.

Another world.
Another life.
Another marriage.

This time:

  • He and Nikita were married

  • They had two kids

  • They lived in Ahmedabad

  • He was an engineer

  • He had NEVER met Madhuri here

Nikita noticed Rahul’s strange behaviour and asked softly:

“Rahul… what’s wrong?”

He took a deep breath and said the words that changed everything—

“I am not your Rahul.
I come from another world.”

At first, she thought he was joking.

But then she saw:

  • He didn’t know his children’s names

  • He didn’t recognise their house

  • He didn’t know their anniversaries

  • He didn’t know their photos, vacations, memories

  • He kept calling for “Madhuri” and “Santi”

Finally she whispered:

“Maybe… you are telling the truth.”

CHAPTER 4: SEARCHING FOR THE PORTAL

Together, they researched the phenomenon.

They found theories online:

  • Parallel realities overlap at times

  • Energy surges can open micro-portals

  • People have reported ‘slipping’ into alternate versions of their world

  • These events happen mostly in areas with unusual electromagnetic activity

Cross-checking maps, they discovered:

The exact place where Rahul appeared
was a known hotspot for “Slip Events.”

So Rahul and Nikita waited there—
every morning, every night.

But the portal never appeared.

Days became weeks.

Rahul started losing hope.

He slowly tried to accept life in this world:

  • He helped Nikita with kids

  • He took a job

  • He lived like her Rahul

  • But his heart belonged to Madhuri and Santi

Nikita understood his pain, and she silently supported him.

But she also prayed—

“If Rahul ever returns home,
let my Rahul come back to me too.”

CHAPTER 5: THE FINAL PORTAL

One foggy morning, while returning from the search site alone, Rahul noticed—

A BLINK.
A tiny glowing dot.
The same colour as the first portal.

His heart pounded.

“This is it… this is the doorway.”

He wanted to call Nikita and tell her—
but what if the portal disappeared?

What if this was his only chance?

He whispered:

“Thank you, Nikita…
for believing me.
For helping me.
For saving me.”

Then he closed his eyes…

and stepped into the light.

CHAPTER 6: BACK HOME

Suddenly the world snapped.

He was back.

Exactly on the same road
Exactly the same second
His hands on the same steering wheel
Santi’s school bag in the back seat

His phone beeped.

“Madhuri calling…”
as if nothing happened.

Her voice was sweet, normal, calm.

“Rahul? You reached home?”

He could only whisper:

“Yes… yes I did.”

That evening he held Madhuri and Santi close.
He didn’t tell them the full story.
He only said:

“I promise I will never leave you two.
Not in this world.
Not in any world.”

From that day onwards—

Rahul never used that road again.
He feared the universe might try
to steal him once more.

But sometimes, at night, he wondered:

“Was it real?
Or just a dream?”

Then he remembered the other families, the other wives, the other children…

He knew the truth—

He really slipped into parallel worlds.
And somehow… he found his way home.
